In addition, two 1,800 teu containership newbuild options by SITC at Yangzijiang in August 2020 were also exercised as part of the six option orders.
Delivery of the first option vessel is expected to be made on 31 August 2022 and delivery of the second option vessel is expected to be made on 30 September 2022.
The construction of the two option vessels and the five additional vessels will enable the company to expand its self-owned fleet of container vessels to meet the increase in demand for the company’s service, SITC said.
